Hello, I am Janet McNamee, a printmaker and linen lover. I graduated in Fine Art and spent many happy years working in the Irish Linen Museum and the Ulster Folk Museum, giving talks and craft workshops on all aspects of linen production. I also worked as an interior designer for IKEA, helping to plan and style their first store in Ireland.
In 2011 I set up my own print studio. The idea behind Jupiter Red was very simple - to create a range of durable, colourful, everyday linens with a commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability. Linen gets better with age (just like you!) so don't keep it tucked away for special occasions. I have designed a range of linens for you to use and enjoy everyday.
Linen production is a big part of Ireland's industrial heritage. It is also the most beautiful fabric to print on, absorbing the pigments to give rich and subtle colours.
I use Irish linen from a local mill and screenprint the designs using my drawings and photographs for inspiration. (You can find out more about the design process in my Sketchbook). I sew my printed linens into textile gifts for you and your home.
I use eco-friendly packaging and non-toxic water based printing inks.
